Research on Teaching and Learning Workshop Series

The Centre for Teaching and Learning offers two to four workshops and/or presentations a year on all aspects of the research on teaching and learning (RTL) process.

Research on Teaching and Learning Retreat
October 14, 10:00am-3:00pm (in-person)
The Centre for Teaching and Learning values the important perspectives that disability and neurodivergence brings to conversations around teaching and learning. We are committed to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all participants. We approach this as a collective practice. As facilitators, we take specific steps to reduce barriers to access, including sharing digitally accessible materials in advance, explaining complex concepts and terms, and inviting multiple forms of participation and engagement. We also recognize that access is an ongoing process; we invite participants to contact us at ctl@uwo.ca if you have any concerns that your access needs might not be met in our session.

Human Research Ethics from a Research on Teaching and Learning Perspective
November 17, 10:30am-12:00pm (online)

In this online session, Dr. Trevor Bieber, an Ethics Specialist with the Non-Medical Research Ethics Board, will provide an overview of research ethics considerations for faculty members who do research on their teaching. Trevor will orient attendees to the federal and institutional mandates for conducting research with humans, highlight the process for obtaining Research Ethics Board (REB) approval, direct attendees to useful resources, provide specific recommendations to address common issues in conducting research on teaching and learning, and answer any questions you may have.
