Ph.D, M.A. and H.B.A.  (Psychology) University of Western Ontario

Dr. Debra Dawson is an educational developer and past director of the Teaching Support Centre (1997-2016). Her work focuses on the scholarship of educational development, post-secondary teaching cultures and best practices in university teaching. She has numerous publications and has given over 100 keynote and conference research presentations nationally and internationally. She is currently the director of the Centre for Research on Teaching and Learning in Higher Education in the Faculty of Education where she is an adjunct research professor. She was the 2016 recipient of the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education’s (STLHE) Christopher Knapper Lifetime Achievement Award. She received the Angela Armitt Award for Excellence in Teaching by Part-time Faculty in 1997. She is the upcoming coordinator of STLHE’s 3M National Teaching Fellowship (2019-2013), Canada’s most prestigious award excellence in leadership and teaching. She served on the Board of STLHE for 10 years and on the executive of the Canadian Society for Studies in Higher Education for 6 years. From 2012-2016 she was the chair of Educational Developers Caucus.
