Open Instructional Skills Workshop-Online

Due to popular demand, we have launched a compressed, self-guided version of our Instructional Skills Workshop Online  called Open Instructional Skills Workshop-Online (Open ISW-O).

The Open ISW-O is a condensed, non-facilitated version of Western's Centre for Teaching and Learning's Instructional Skills Workshop Online and is designed to achieve the following learning outcomes.

By the end of the Open Instructional Skills Workshop Online, participants will:

  1. Compare and contrast eLearning principles with face-to-face learning principles in order to clarify the roles and responsibilities of the online instructor
  2. Develop strategies for humanizing an online course in order to engage online learners
  3. Develop learning outcomes and align them with appropriate teaching and learning strategies, eLearning tools, and assessment and feedback practices
  4. Apply eLearning principles and theory to online instruction through planning an online lesson using the BOPPPS model

The workshop is broken into three weeks that cover the topics of Building Community, Building Lessons, and Putting Theory into Practice. To join the site and complete the lessons at your own pace, follow the directions below
