Community of Practice and Care: Teaching Culture
DESCRIPTION
This summer, you are warmly invited to join a Community of Practice and Care (CoPC) that explores the roles of intercultural communication, cultural flexibility, and third cultures in cultivating spaces of belonging in our teaching and learning communities. Participants in this CoPC will also have the opportunity to earn up to two Future Prof credits.
What to expect
In this COPC, scholars from diverse ethnic, linguistic, and cultural backgrounds are invited to a space that cultivates belonging, fosters knowledge exchange, offers opportunities to try new teaching strategies, and allows participants to strengthen their identities as scholars and educators. Through lightly facilitated discussions, we will explore various supports and strategies available to graduate and post-doctoral educators as you navigate the complexities of your roles and positionalities. We will also nurture the confidence and skills needed to thrive as culturally responsive educators through collaborative dialogue, reflexive practice, and peer mentorship.
Join us online for tri-weekly conversations dedicated to creating a supportive, collaborative space that centres and honours our different worldviews and teaching practices as we navigate the intricacies, joys, and complexities of teaching and learning in the Canadian context. Dates and times for meetings include:
- May 26th - 1:30-2:30PM
- June 09th - 1:30 -2:30PM
- June 30th - 1:30-2:30PM
