Generative AI Community of Practice
DESCRIPTION
The Generative AI Community of Practice (Gen AI CoP) is a group of faculty, librarians and archivists, and staff interested in the pedagogical use of generative AI. We discuss strategies and share resources for integrating generative AI into course design, assessment, and learning experiences to both support learning objectives and to help students develop practical skills around the use of generative AI. Anyone interested in the educational implications of generative AI is welcome to join us!
What to expect
In the Generative AI Community of Practice, you can expect to meet with a group of colleagues from different disciplines and roles across Western who are interested in Generative AI. Although the structure of the meetings will evolve, each meeting will focus on sharing of experiences, concerns, and perceived potential for Generative AI in teaching and learning.
Purpose & Goals
Purpose: To be a knowledge and experience hub for sharing pedagogical strategies around the use of generative AI.
Goals:
- Document and share various approaches to using generative AI;
- Discuss how best to integrate generative AI into courses to enrich the learning experience by:
- providing students with practical skills in consideration of real-world applications;
- supporting existing learning objectives;
- developing strategies and ideas for how to use GenAI "appropriately" in assessments;
- Identify what resources would be necessary to facilitate these practices.
