The Retreat Experience of a Lifetime for Educational Developers at Any Stage of their Careers

About the Great Educational Developers Seminar

Based on the Great Teachers Seminar framework, participants in the Great Educational Developers Seminar (GEDS) will share information and experiences, reflect, and action plan as they explore a variety of educational development strategies, innovations, and challenges. Specifically, GEDS participants will:

  1. Identify and synthesize critical patterns and trends impacting the practice of educational development;
  2. Examine challenges faced by educational developers and benefit from the wisdom and insights of colleagues in addressing those challenges;
  3. Explore a wide array of successful educational development initiatives from across ED portfolios and institutions;
  4. Individually and collectively examine educational developer identities;
  5. Immerse one-self in a relaxed, supportive, and engaging environment that will promote self-reflection and personal well-being; and
  6. Experience the Great Teachers Seminar format and consider its applicability and suitability as an academic development model for their organization(s).

Located at the Ignatius Jesuit Centre, the GEDS will start at 5:00pm on April 23, 2019 with dinner and programming in the evening. Programming will start each morning (April 24 – 26, 2019) by 9:00am and end each evening (April 23 - 25, 2019) by 9:00pm.

The registration fee includes a three evening stay at the Ignatius Jesuit Centre, breakfasts and lunches on April 24, 25, and 26, and dinners on April 23, 24, 25.

GEDS participants are required to stay at the Ignatius Jesuit Centre for the duration of the retreat.
