The Facilitators for the Great Educational Developers Seminar are:

Nanda Dimitrov, Director, Center for Teaching and Learning, Western University

Nanda’s work as an educational developer focuses on intercultural learning in diverse classrooms, faculty mentorship and graduate supervision across cultures. She is an ISW and FDW facilitator and has been teaching in higher education for over 20 years. Her recent publications have explored the development of intercultural teaching competence, she has served as co-editor of a New Directions in Teaching and Learning special issue, and as a reviewer for a number of academic journals. She has facilitated faculty development workshops at over a dozen Canadian higher education institutions, as well as at universities in Switzerland, Hong Kong and Japan.

Paul Martin, Director, Center for Teaching and Learning, Marquette University

As Director of Marquette’s CTL, Paul oversees the centre’s educational development initiatives, the Service Learning and Interprofessional Education programs, and the Norman H. Ott Memorial Writing Center. His areas of specialization include student engagement, classroom assessment, course (re)design, and academic technology.

Prior to joining Marquette, Paul was the Faculty Development Coordinator at MacEwan University (2011-2018) and the Director of the Canadian Studies Program (2006-11) and an Assistant Professor in the Department of English at the University of Vermont. His book Sanctioned Ignorance: the politics of knowledge production and the teaching of the literatures of Canada (2013) won the Gabrielle Roy Prize for Canadian Literary Criticism in English.

From 2011-2018, Paul oversaw, facilitated, and, for the last two years, led the National Great Teachers Seminar in the Canadian Rockies. 2019 will mark the debut of the Midwest Great Teachers Seminar (May 19-23) which will be held at the historic Wingspread Estate in Wisconsin.

Ken Meadows, Educational Researcher, Center for Teaching and Learning, Western University

Ken Meadows is an educational researcher with the Centre for Teaching and Learning and adjunct research professor with the Faculty of Education at Western University. With the Centre, he co-ordinates scholarship of teaching and learning initiatives, is Managing Editor of The Canadian Journal for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, and facilitates faculty development workshops including the Instructional Skills Workshop and Western’s Great Teachers Seminar. He received his Ph.D. in Psychology from Western in 2003.

Natasha Patrito Hannon, Manager of Educational Development, Centre for Academic Excellence, Niagara College

Natasha Patrito Hannon is the Manager of Educational Development at Niagara College, and she holds a PhD in Chemistry from Western University. With a decade-long career that spans both the college and university sectors, Natasha has worked in the areas of graduate student professional development, STEM education, faculty and curriculum development, and the scholarship of teaching and learning. Natasha is a committed member of the educational development community in Canada and is passionate about creating opportunities to share, acknowledge, and celebrate our work. She has served as co-Chair of the Council of Ontario Educational Developers and is the current EDC Vice-Chair, Awards and Recognition. Natasha is an experienced facilitator and trainer of the Instructional Skills Workshop and has facilitated two Great Teachers Seminars in affiliation with Western University.
